An important message from the Director of the Summer School

23rd March 2021

After a lot of thought, and with great sadness and reluctance, we have decided to postpone the Summer School again until August 2022.

It is not a decision we take lightly, and we are very sorry to do so. With the self-isolation period for entering the UK at 10 days, and no vaccine passports agreed, we felt with had no choice. With so many of our participants coming from abroad, and some foreign universities not funding international travel, it made planning on having the Summer School unrealistic.

We have considered having a virtual event, but having taking soundings, it has become clear that participants really value the community experience that cannot be replicated online. We are determined to go ahead with an in-person Summer School in 2022.

Merton College have again agreed to postpone, and we are now looking at early August, 2022. The topic, Animals and Public Policy, will remain the same.

The Call for Papers is closed and we have a full programme of speakers. There is a waiting list for speakers, please email depdirector@oxfordanimalethics.com for more information. As speakers confirm their availability for August 2022, we will post the provisional programme here.

For those of you who have already booked from last year, I will be reaching out to you individually. Merton cannot guarantee the booking prices for next year yet, so booking will reopen again in the autumn, at which we will also confirm the exact dates

I am personally very disappointed not to be seeing you all again, but I hope August 2022 will be possible for you.

Every good wish
Clair
