The Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1979 that protects the lives and advances the interests of animals through the legal system. They file high-impact lawsuits, assist in prosecuting animal cruelty, and lobby for stronger animal protection laws.

 

 

Susan and Dan Boggio

Susan and Dan Boggio are philanthropists from Houston, Texas. Susan is the former Board Chair of UNICEF USA, Southwest Region and they are founders of UNICEF’s Dan and Susan Boggio Fund for children. Susan and Dan together have been named a Texas Children’s Hospital Champion for Children, Houston PetSet Soiree’ 2018 Honorees, recipients of the Melcher Humanitarian Award, and UNICEF Helenka Pantaleoni Global Humanitarian award. Susan founded Happy Faces Pet Ranch dog rescue in Texas and is currently fostering and rehoming approximately 130 dogs.

 

Kimberly Moore

Kimberly Moore was a senior tax attorney at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in Washington, D.C. and is an expert on laws governing the treatment of animals in the United States.  She is the Director of Public Relations of Fur Free Society, Inc. and has worked on state legislation to ban the sale and manufacture of fur in the United States.  She has represented and advised animal welfare organizations on formation and fundraising matters, and has assisted organizations in obtaining their I.R.S. 501(c)(3) status.  Kimberly is a Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics, and is the author of the new book, The Case for the Legal Protection of Animals, Humanity’s Shared Destiny with the Animal Kingdom (Palgrave Macmillan Animal Ethics Series, 2023).
